LMaO Indefinite Break

After a lot of thought and consideration I am announcing LMaO as on hold potentially indefinitely. Over the last few months I've worked hard to try and create new content and figure out a proper timeline for completion. I've determine that this just isn't going to be viable in a reasonable amount of time for me to complete. The time it takes me to write, create art assets, program and implement all the events, test the system all add up in a way I was not expecting when I started this project. I found myself frequently becoming overwhelmed by the amount of content that needed to be produced. So I've decided to put LMaO on hold potentially indefinitely.

I'm very sorry to do this and I know it'll disappoint a lot of people. I just can't manage a project this large on my own. I really underestimated the time everything was going to take. While it's possible for me to complete it given enough time, I feel the time it would take could be spent in far more productive and beneficial ways. The support here has been incredible and it's meant so much to me. I really want to continue to post things to itch and participate in this great community. I just need to better learn my limits and start projects with a more reasonable scope.

For the next few months I'll be attempted a handful of different creative projects. Each with a hard deadline of one month. Completed or not they'll be released on my patreon at the end of the month, then they'll be released publicly later. This is in an attempt to refocus myself, recharge creatively and better learn my limits and learn what the scope of my projects should be.

I made a bigger post about all this on my patreon the other day so I won't be going into it a ton here. But the short version is that I've released the source code for LMaO on my patreon as well as all the currently completed art assets for it on there under a free use license. (Specifically the LMaO content, none of the other stuff I have posted there). I'll likely release that stuff here in about a month or so, under the same restrictions, but if people are interested in that and don't want to wait my patreon is https://www.patreon.com/draite BIG DISCLAIMER before anyone goes supporting there to get the source code. It is a mess. I don't recommend you use it. It's not commented properly. I don't know Ren'py basically at all. The code is almost certainly nonsense and broken and I won't be answer questions about it because even I don't full understand what it does half the time. I have it there for people who are interested but I recommend not using it as a prime example of Ren'py programming.

Over the next couple months as I mentioned I'll be doing some different projects, specifically a comic, horror game and mystery project that even I don't know yet. So if that is at all interesting to anyone you can follow me there as well. (Fair warning, the page is currently in a transitionary phase and not updated to the current goals and such. I'll be doing that tomorrow, hopefully.)

If you don't want to support me on patreon (which is totally valid and I take no offence), I try to post stuff to my FA as well https://www.furaffinity.net/user/draite/ Also fair warning it's a lot of gay furry adult content, with a sprinkling of clean sutff. I'm trying to start posting more and anything that I do on patreon will be released to FA just with a few week delay from patreon. At least when I don't forget.

I am very sorry again to cut the project off so early in it's development. I hope to hear from you all on halloween when I release whatever horror game I come up with. Thank you all again for the support and I hope this acts at least as a cautionary tale to manage your time not just your technical ability when decided a project.

Psst... now with so many years gone by, is there any possibility you might resurrect this?  (Or maybe a reincarnation?)

Love the work, hope you take care.

I understand your choice, and thank you for the work you've already done. I hope to see more of you in the future though!

Too bad to hear this, we will wait for your next creation. Good luck. (*•̀ㅂ•́)و

I wish you success in your future endeavors. It was a good game and a refreshing one at that. Thank you for you hard work.

I'm sad to see it's cancelled, but if it means anything you did achieve some very ambitious things with LMaO. I'm sure you'll do well in your next creative ventures. Good luck!

Sad to hear about this, but I fully understand your decision. I want to say this journey you brought to us, even a little bit...well short, is very memorable. Interesting charactors, beatiful portraits, immersive narratives, ambitious stats system, and......*cough* good lewds *cough*.

Wish I could be more helpful instead of just catch a few bugs here and there......I hope you succeed in your future projects, and thanks again for this marvelous experience!
